How Can He Live Without His Euridice

from Orpheus and Eurydice...ish
Libretto by Michelle Telford and Kendra Harder
Instrumentation: Soprano (C4 - B5), and accompaniment*
Duration: 4.5'

2017

Kendra Harder ยท How Can He Live Without His Euridice (Orphues and Eurydice...ish)
This recording is from the original version of the opera with wind septet
*this work is available in two formats:
1. Soprano and piano
2. Soprano and wind octet
In the classic tale of Orpheus & Eurydice, Eurydice is bitten by a prop snake and now prepares herself for death in the classic drawn-out death aria. This version takes the Gluck classic "How can I live without my Euridice?" and turns it on its head to "How can Orpheus live with out me?"

This comic aria is just a few too many dashes of overdramaticism, which should be just enough for the overdramatic soprano.
Orpheus and Eurydice...ish was originally written for the Strata Festival of New Music. An edited version for piano and voice was made possible thanks to the generosity of SK Arts.
Instrumentation: Soprano (C4 - B5), Piano
Duration: 4.5'
