As I was working on this piece, every single time I tried to find a new way to develop a section, I found that I was consistently landing at the same place:

One day in frustration I cried out to myself, "It's like I'm stuck in a time loop!!!" And that's when I changed the entire premise of the piece.
Instrumentation: Contrabassoon, pipe organ, and contrabass
