Commissioned by the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra as part of a collaborative concert, Wolfie's Wedding, which re-imagines Mozart arias in a new comic opera devised by Toronto ensemble, Collectif. The concert includes original arias from Cosi Fan Tutte and Marriage of Figaro, and some newly reimagined music by four emerging Saskatchewan composers - Kendra Harder, Danika Lorèn, Tiess MacKenzie, and Alex Tosh - to create a comic story of Mozart's wedding to... one of the Weber sisters.
The youngest sister, Sophie, attempts to make her older sisters make amends by declaring that love is to blame, and not each other through the aria É Amore un ladroncello.

Okay - now take all that you read above and throw it out the window!
A pandemic happened, and now Danika Lorèn has re-reimagined the story. I have no idea what is going to happen, but I know it's going to be great! This collaboration is now between Saskatoon Opera, Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, Free Flow Dance Company, the abovementioned four composers, and e-directed by Danika Lorèn from Toronto. |
This unique filmed operatic concert premiered June 24, 2021 and was available for streaming until August 4 (same year).
In the video clip beside, I attempt a one-woman teaser of my reimagined Mozart aria as a way to curb the disappointment of the postponed 2020 premiere. |
