Frugality, frugality for me is a necessity!

So you might be asking yourself, "What on earth does this have to do with composition??? I thought this was a composition blog??" Well, sure. But it's also what life is like as a freelance composer, and this is soooo what I'm going through right now.
In these weeks of self-isolation, some of you may have already exhausted your Netflix account, been desperate enough to pull out the slide projector, and are now alone with your thoughts that are meandering through the mysteries of life such as “How different is life for a freelance composer during the COVID-19 pandemic?” Truthfully – not very. Yes, some concerts have very sadly, but understandably, been postponed, but otherwise my day-to-day life is still very in keeping with
So this last week has been pretty interesting on a global scale. Super markets have barren shelves to a Y2K-proportion, schools are closing for the year, the Junos were cancelled (and it was our turn to host!), and tons of people are finding themselves working from home due to self-isolation.
Sometimes I get swept up in crazy ideas and I completely lose the plot. This happens compositionally a lot (rabbit trails, anyone?). But this time I lost some important focus, particularly with what my goals are as a freelance composer.
