Feministory Open Access Library

Thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts, I get to start on a dream project - commissioning living composers to create arrangements of works by marginalized composers for primary and secondary wind band. These arrangements will be made available free of charge to music educators for use in their band programs. The goal of this Open Access Library is to help diversify the music curriculum, and to help remove barriers for music educators in accessing new music for the band programs.

I am working with librarian Kat Hicks on the digital online library. Feministory will grow into a source for music educators and musicians alike to learn more about the composers that have historically been left out of the music curriculum and programming. In addition to the Open Access Library, there will be links to other organizations doing work in this field.

We are a new and small library, but we hope to grow as the years go on, commissioning more arrangements, engaging in outreach activities, and helping people connect with resources.

Feministory will be launching in 2025 - so stay tuned!
